owl you'll ever need

OH MY GOD sorry.Im too excited. I just got my most favourite BMC (Blackmilk Clothing) piece in the post yesterday (customs free, hell yeah!)

This was a LIMITED BMC piece from the most recent "Ammo" release at the end of October and I have been waiting for this dress for what feels like an eternity. Luckily I had some birthday money left over so it went straight on this as it was only available for 48 hours, pretty sure I'd have died of a broken heart if I hadn't been able to grab it!!

The Midnight Owl skater dress is the most gorgeous thing to grace my body. EVER
Iv never really been a big fan of blues and purples but holy crap i am now! This print has previously been used on leggings and a body con dress which for some reason i wasn't really bothered about, the whole skater dress thing just sucks me in, clearly. The reversible part is also majorly awesome.

The print was designed by a fellow sharkie and its just perfect for my life. I have a slight obsession with owls, even a large tattoo and a selection of other things in my house.Theres just owls everywhere ok? like an owl museum, if people wanted to go to museums filled with tacky household goods emblazoned with owls that is. I digress...

Just look at it....mmmm

I thrifted this (see above) beautiful sheer metallic blouse last week on my birthday for the huge sum of £1.50 and it just goes with it perfectly, I bought it on a whim and didn't really have the skater dress in mind when I got it, but I'm glad I did!!! I also teamed it with a super cheap necklace that I found in Primark on sale for about £1 also amazingly cheap. Most of my looks these days are pretty easy going on the purse strings, my only splurges are on BMC almost everything else I tend to find in charity shops.

He was a skater boy, she said see ya later boy

Heres something I havn't written about for a while!
It was my birthday last month (boo hoo another year older) this year I just asked family for some vouchers so I could get a few pieces I have been eagerly waiting for in this years BlackMilk Clothing Halloween release entitled "All Killer, no Filler"

All of my purchases have been skater dresses (no suprise there) finally I got my hands on the Bee skater dress which I have been lusting over for months, when BMC announced the possibility of the return of the Bee print in a dress I promptly sold my Bee swimsuit faster than you can say "nylon" as I knew it would most likely loose its value and Id have lost a pile of cash since I paid a lot for it, so off that went then I had a rather long wait!!!

I was a little sad to let it go as it was such a dream piece for me, but I knew I'd get a hell of a lot more use out of a dress  than a swimsuit as they are really the most irritating form of clothing to wear under jeans, AARgh so annoying!!!

Some snaps of the Bee skater, Im convinced that the bees in this version are actually bigger than they were on my swimsuit, just something about it is different. But who cares? It's awesome none the less

Bee skater by Blackmilk Clothing $85

I also purchased the new mulled wine velvet "Evil skater dress" which is a different cut to the current skaters, It has lovely and flattering princess seams and quite a lot more "flounce" to the skirt, also it's not reversible, but is cut slightly longer at the back. The fabric is beautiful and the colour is gorgeous definatley a good one for winter and Christmas!

Looking forward to the upcoming Christmas release now!

Treasure hunt!

This month I have got back into a little hobby I used to love,Thrifting!!!!

Is there anything more rewarding than finding a stupidly cheap pair of Levi's or a vintage shirt? nope, there isnt so stop looking. I've been out to a few different charity stores close to home lately, around Preston, Leyland and Blackpool, Classy I know. All full of good stuff though belive it or not. Im pretty sure the woman that works in The Red Cross at Preston thinks Im absolutely mental, everything in there is £1!!!! I cant help myself. I've been in about 5 times in two weeks, I'm addicted..what ever

Im really collecting jeans at the moment, specifically all the 90s style mom jeans i can get my hands on. im having great fun cutting shredding and bleaching the crap out of them.seriously so fun!!! I'm hoping that I will be able to sell some as a little side project, I love getting crafty!!!

Other than physically going out and thrifting I have found quite a few cheap pairs of jeans on ebay. There are a few people who literally name their auction "jeans" and these are the ones that get no hits and very few watchers, so it's really easy to pick up a pair for a few pounds or less! We all know that rush from winning an Ebay auction, some of us a little too well!

Tye Dye for

I have been getting a bit crafty lately. I seem to be obsessed with all things tye dye! Iv never done it before but I thought it was something easy and fun i could have a go at.Its a great way to brighten up old shirts, especially old white ones that are starting to go a bit grey its like a new lease of life instantly and can really brighten up your wardrobe!

Its pretty cheap to get everything that you need. I bought most of what i need form amazon and Ebay, one packet of dylon hand dye will last for a really long tie as you only really need a bout a table spoon per shirt depending on the technique you want to use. I think Ive made around 6 shirts and i still have a
lot of dye left to use!

As i said i started out with some old shirts just to try it out as i didnt really know what to expect but they came out so so well!!! I went out and bought a few cheap tops and bodysuits from Primark to test out some other designs and they also worked really well, the bodysuits in particular they are so bright i love them!

The first body suit i dyed i literally just threw dye at it! i got it super cheap at primark so it cost pretty much nothing, it looked really boring and id never wear it as it was, this is a great way to make something really cheap look awesome in 5 minutes!

"Colour Splash" bodysuit
I made sure that i didn't leave the dyes on for too long and only used a small amount each time because i really wanted a more pastel effect on the BS rather than it being super bright. I think the pastel ones really suit my super pale skin tone plus they go really nicely with denim!

"Swirl" bodysuit

This next bodysuit was a little more complicated, but still super easy! I created a swirl in the bodysuit and rolled it up so it looked almost like a cinnamon bun! then spooned different coloured dyes on to each side and the outside of the swirl! left it for a few hours, rinsed and popped it in the washing machine voila!

This was the first shirt that i re vamped, it was a present from a good friend of mine and I'd really worn it quite alot so it was started to go that really annoying grey colour, I didn't want to get rid of it as it's one of my favourite shirts so I gave it a new lease of life! again I wasn't precious with it I put some dye in a bottle with a sports cap and just squirted it all over the Tshirt. For the 1st thing that id ever tyedyed im pretty happy with it! now it looks great and will get many more wears!

This next one i tied up with rubber bands to create an interesting more "traditional" tye dye effect! also really easy, it took a few minutes to do!

The Devil's Bounty Hunters

So it's been a couple of weeks since my last post. Things have been crazy busy for me lately, we (Lesbian bed death) have just finished recording our new album "The Devil's Bounty Hunters" and we are starting to get the finished mixes through. They are seriously blowing my mind right now! really really excited about them to be honest, worth the tears and lack of sleep, Im sure the rest of the band will agree.

Waiting for them has been like waiting for Christmas when you're a kid, but worse!!! totally worth the wait though, you guys are going to love these new tracks so much!

We have also had the brilliantly talented Iris Compiet working on our album artwork, she has already done some covers for previous singles, her work is extraordinary! here is the new album cover she has done for us, love the wild west theme! Pre order your copy here

check out more of Iris' work here

Its been a lot harder on us this time round, we are down to a 3 piece so that's a heck of a lot more pressure for us, but in all honesty I think this is the best album we have ever done, the songs are heavier and more polished than our previous album "Riot of the Living Dead" It really does feel like we have taken a huge step forward, Im hoping the fans of the band will agree!

We  have a pledge campaign running at the moment, there isnt much time left as it ends on October 30th so if you would like to help us out by pledging (pre ordering) we will be forever greatful, this album cannot happen without the help of our fans as we have no corporate man in a suit throwing wads of cash at us. We want to be able to do what we want to do without a record company telling us how it should be done. As well as a fully glass mastered album (no CDRs here folks) there are also some package deals available, hey I'll even do some artwork for you myself.

Check out this video of us talking about the campaign!  Pledge now!!
Keep up to date with us at our website below also follow link to previous albums!

Wet look love

Lately I seem to have fallen back in love with my wetlook leggings by Blackmilk. Totally a wardrobe staple they just go with everything! they are pretty easy to just throw on with a band T or if you're going out put some heels on and your away!!!

For BlackMilk leggings they are actually very reasonably priced too, approx £30 so pretty much what you would pay on the High street but for a much better quality and fit. I recall trying some wetlook leggings on in Topshop once and they were just truly hideous, I'm not sure who they were made to fit, even the smallest size was too big. Just really awful, but the BM leggings are far superior in my opinion, possibly the most comfortable leggings ever created.Awesome

These are two of my most recent looks I posted on Lookbook wearing them, Im starting to really look forward to winter right now, theres alot of stuff I want to shoot and wear together but it's just too damn warm!!! never happy the British.

Welcome to Jurassic Park

So, I was having a pretty lousy day until I heard a knock at the door and the postman turned up. Quite frankly I wanted to kiss him (I didnt)

I had a couple of packages but the one I was really excited for was the Jurassic Park Tshirt that I ordered from Veronica Fever or Vfever the other day, I ordered from Etsy but she also has an Ebay store.

Im a bit of a Jurassic Park nerd and I was watching a makeup turtorial the other day on Youtube and the girl doing it was wearing this awesome shirt, I think it must have been fate as I'm going to watch it re-released on Sunday in 3D at IMAX Manchester. I promptly googled it and found one! I really had to have it, tye dye plus dinosaurs is just an amazing combo!

The Tshirts are an oversized fit, I ordered a small (8-10) and it fits really nicely, next time I think I will order a size up so i can wear it with leggings as I quite like baggy shirts when I wear my Blackmilk.

It came really quick, I ordered on Sunday and it arrived today (tuesday) so awesome service all round really. The Tshirt itself is a nice good quality cotton shirt tye dyed with a home made transfer on it, I like to try and buy from small brands as things are a bit more unique and this is definatly a little company that i will be re purchasing from in the future and I thought the price was reasonable too (£16.37) If dinosaurs arn't your thing don't worry! there are a lot more designs to choose from in really cute pastel colours or just plain colours. I actually messaged about doing the shirt in a different colourway so hopefully she will get back to me soon! I used it for my most recent lookbook post today, paired with some awesome vintage Levi's shorts I got from Miss Selfridge a few months back, they arn't on the website anymore but they sell them in my local store so check out yours!

Burned Velvet

Is there a thing more magical than burned velvet?....no.

Maybe unicorns but that's pretty much it.

I could go on about this fabric for days.In fact I don't know why it's taken me so long to purchase it, the cut of the Black Milk Evil Cheerleader is divine, it falls over my curves and accentuates the things that need it and minimises things that don't, marvellous. The fabric is actually a little sheer, you can't really tell in these pictures at all though its more noticeable when the dress is on the hanger, I bought a little black dress for £8 from H&M to wear under it and a satin slip in case I didn't like the cling of the dress underneath. I actually quite like both, the satin sheen comes through the sheerness of the velvet which is really lovely! I was a little worried that the cap sleeves may have been a little snug on me but they fit perfectly, even though I ordered my printed dress size which is usually a size smaller to the leggings that you wear to avoid ride up.

This dress really is amazing. It is cut slightly longer at the back and drapes beautifully, they really got it right with this one. It would go down a treat at parties with some cute heels and with the right accessories could be easily used for casual day wear, think chunky knits, thick tights and lace up boots in the winter.Perfect.

Since receiving the Evil Cheerleader i have also ordered the burned velvet leggings and the burned velvet maxi dress, I really couldn't help myself. I imagine that the leggings will defiantly be a staple in the winter as they are slightly sheer they will be a wonderful replacement for plain tights underneath skater dresses, or even for laying over plain black ones to add a bit of texture, I really cant wait to try them out!

Outfit of the rainy day

So the wonderful summer that the UK was having is starting to dissipate (sheds a tear) the stupidly hot sunny days we have been having have been replaced by rain. Old familiar.

I made the most of a break in the rain to take a picture of my outfit for the day! I teamed my Black milk skater with some super cute little boots I got last Christmas, I cant quite remember but I'm sure they were around £30, a thin waist belt from Topshop and a studded bag also from New Look. Super simple but really cute!

Skater "All the things" SERIOUSLY

Could a dress BE more flattering?

No. Is the simple answer to that question. I'm not sure why it has taken the BM team so long to bring these amazing things to light but im so glad that they did!

If you're reading this and you are a BM fan then you will know ALL about ride up. We all know the miserable feeling of holding our body con dresses down while we walk because if not there is a very large chance of someone seeing our butt. Not very lady like.

Enter the skater dress.

Black Milk Clothing "Woah Dude" skater dress $60 aud http://blackmilkclothing.com/

If you're shaped like me (small waist, big hips and butt) these will be your best friend, infact you will wonder how you ever managed without them. Throw it on, throw on some vans, instant casual day outfit, change into heels and it's a night outfit. So versatile!

No ride up, no ride down (no one wants to see a half exposed bra) and they are reversible. BM are putting a lot of new designs into production at the moment and I seriously cant wait, most of my "outfit of the days"on Instagram lately have been skater dresses. They just go with everything and are so comfortable. I can see them being a winter staple for me paired with some thick black tights, a big cardigan and chunky boots, heaven.

I cant wait for more of these. Ive never been so excited about a cut of dress before.

Let the Nomming commence

Wow, my last post went on alot longer than I expected.

To bring things back into context I discovered Black Milk Clothing over a year ago, a good friend of mine added me into a face book group called "black milk UK Sharkies"

I had absolutely no idea what a "sharkie" was. It was explained to me a Sharkie was someone who was obsessed with Black milk, it all seemed a bit strange to me, but after reading a few posts and doing a bit of  research I was sucked in. That was it, I was hooked.

Before I found BM (black milk) I was struggling a little with fashion. I had grown out of looking like some undead child of Satan's quite a few years back, and I was just stuck in a rut of skinny jeans and Tshirts, that and dressing like a 12 year old.

I took this as an opportunity to re invent myself, to give my self some kind of fashion identity. BM has so many designs to choose from and you really do feel like you have to have them all. My bank balance disagreed. I sold a hell of alot of stuff to be able to afford any BM in the first place and I try and make sure that I sell something before I buy something new (a great idea, but it doesn't always work out that way) I like to think of it as recycling.

I don't earn alot. Mainly enough to cover bills, so I cant just buy "all the things" if I really really want something and can justify buying it then I will, if not I wont. Because of this constant recycling I rarely have more than 12 pieces at a time, the most being 15 but who needs 15 pairs of leggings really? No one, exactly. Having two days off a week didn't give me time to get much use out of them, if I had a job that didn't require a uniform I'd be all over it, every day but that sadly isn't the case.I got rid of a lot of things that I just didn't wear, mainly swimsuits. I love the idea of them but they really are just too much hassle, a complete no go in winter as getting semi nude in an ice cube of a bathroom isn't my cup of tea, So Ikept some leggings and decided Id rather wear dresses.

I have NEVER been a dress person. For some reason I have always had a fear of them, God knows why, but man, I had to have these dresses! they are just so easy to style and they really do make you look and feel freaking awesome. Recently BM have started to bring out skater dresses and oh my god i never though I could love a cut sooo much, but that's a whole other post!

Pretty much every day now consists of  BM, I'm a very active group member and in some ways it feels like having another family. A huge family of mega hot girls all over the world, that's the other amazing thing about the brand, I'm not aware of any other clothing brands that have quite such a following. They listen to what girls want and they take on ideas for all sorts of things, before a big release there is such excitement among the groups that I'm pretty sure some girls are ready to burst. They are based in Australia so with the time zone difference many an early hour has been spent sat at the computer at 4am waiting excitedly to Nom everything in sight (incidentally the word "Nom" is how the Sharkie nickname came to be, a tonne of girls "Nommed" the website in the brands early days, which led to it going offline completely. Nommed to death like a pack of sharks in a feeding frenzy)

I have had a bit of a break of the last few months and I havn't quite been feeling that excitement I used to have but recently with alot of new dress cuts and skirts I'm starting to feel it again and I cant wait to see what they have in store for the rest of the year!

New beginnings.

I have been meaning to start a fashion/lifestyle blog for the LONGEST time and I just never got around to it. This year my new years resolution was "to do something awesome with my life" and I'm hoping that this blog will eventually play a part in that resolution. fashion is something I have a major passion for, from the age of 5 I knew I wanted to be a designer. I worked my butt off through High School and college to get onto a fashion degree course at University, which I did. However it wasn't all plain sailing.

Degree courses are very VERY structured and don't give people like me who are not into the "norm" much creative freedom,I struggled through two years before I decided that this wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I was literally heart broken, to have your hopes and dreams stamped on is well and truly one of the most difficult things I've ever had to face. I left the course and decided I wanted to remove myself from all aspects of the fashion circle, I didn't enjoy the atmosphere or the people I had met connected with it.

I still enjoy fashion itself, I love putting outfits together and seeing how far I can push it, but being a designer is just not the career for me. I often think that it would have been a different story if I had pursued fashion promotion instead. I know I would have fared much better with that but at the time it wasn't what I wanted. The only other fall back I had was Graphic Design, something I was just good at. It wasn't a passion of mine at all but at the time it was only thing that I could tangibly make a career out of. I got through the three years and got a degree that I hated and it just got stuck up on a shelf so to speak.

After exhausting my creative abilities I thought that was the end for me, that id never get any love out of anything creative again. Then I rediscovered music.

I had never even considered having a career in music, sure I had been in a few High School bands when I was younger and messed about in the music department at school but I didn't have the confidence to do anything with it. I knew I could sing, I sang literally all the time but always to myself, I never told my parents that I could sing, my closest friends knew and only because I told them, I wouldn't dare burst into song in front of anyone. I was literally scared to death.

So to my surprise when I was approached to sing in a band my first thought was, no don't be stupid you cant do this and you know you cant, why are you even thinking about it? I told the guys that I would think about it. I took a couple of weeks with it, knowing full well that I was going to say no.

I went to work as usual and spoke to one of my co workers about it and that I was defiantly  going to say no. He asked me why, I replied that I just couldn't do it. He asked me what was stopping me, I replied, "me"

It was like something clicked. The only reason I hadn't done anything with my voice in the past was because of my own fears, no one was telling me I couldn't do any of these things, I was stopping myself and I had no idea why. This is something I could really make a go of, and it had been a secret dream of mine for years, combined with the new confidence I had gained from modelling for the past couple of years I thought "fuck it, why not"

So I went and did a rehearsal. I was terrified. The most scared I'd been in my whole life, but I got through it and they loved me.

It gave me the confidence I needed and now 3 years on I'm in a pretty popular band, we're about to make our 4th studio album and I couldn't be happier about it. With that being said this is my new outlet, I know I can make a career for myself that doesn't include serving customers 5 days a week. So here it goes....wish me luck
